This painting is part of a collection named 'Portrait of a sentient', giving a voice to wild brumbies that are taken out of the wild, and if not rehomed sent to a knackery or otherwise ground culled in the wild. Pictured is Spirit of the Mountain, a real brumby, previously known as Elby's dad, when in the wild. He is a wild brumby that was trapped in Kosciuszko National Park NSW Australia, in 2020 and luckily rehomed to Clearview Brumby Rescue in Queensland Australia. He mourned his wild family having been a king of stallion in the park, with a large family. He was rejecting his new family at first when rehomed. but eventually took to the new family and now is happy and thriving in his new home.

relating to natural selection 'Sunshine' was a filly born in the wild to a mob named 'The sunshine Mob' . Karen Ferguson, a wild brumby photographer that visits regularly the Kosciuszko National Park in NSW Australia, has an ethereal connection to the brumbies and helps Karen helps me to relate the stories through her connection to the wild brumbies.
Sunshine was born in September 2020 but died by the end of 2020 from 'natural selection'. reminding us that wild animals live thrive and die and are sentient as the family mourned her passing.

Mischief born to mare Sassy & Aussie born to mare Scarlet. Sassy and Scarlet, are Kosciuszko wild brumbies that were trapped while pregnant and birthed their foals where they were rehomed in Queensland Australia. Once winned they will go to new forever homes.
