The Pollinators' Dance
Drypoint intaglio print
10 X 8 X 1 inch
This piece explores the delicate interplay between nature's industrious creatures and abstract textures. The bees, created through drypoint intaglio printmaking on plexiglass and printed on rice paper, bring intricate detail to the organic composition. The background is alive with green and yellow Akua inks, textured by subtle drops of alcohol for a dynamic effect while mark-making and golden green acrylic paint weave layers of depth and movement. The work invites viewers to reflect on the vital role of bees within a lush, textured environment.

Artisan Narrative III
Mixed Media
12 X 12 X 1 inch
During an artist workshop in California’s Central Valley, this piece emerged as an exploration of time's transformative power. The surface tells a story of erosion and renewal through peeling layers and earthy tones of gold and rust. Bees, etched into the layers, offer a symbolic nod to patience and effort, their hive-building echoing the artistic process. Subtle traces of earlier layers and marks remain visible, revealing the evolving journey of the work, much like time leaves its mark on all things.

Artisan Narrative II
Mixed Media
12 X 12 X 1 inch
Created during an artist workshop in California’s Central Valley, these three 12x12 mixed media pieces explore the passage of time through layered textures and suggestive imagery. The peeling layers and dark golden hues symbolize the slow erosion and wear that time leaves behind. Beneath the surface, intaglio prints of bees emerge, subtly representing the time and dedication required to build their hives. The use of rust applied to paper, paired with golden yellow acrylic paint, captures the worn beauty of weathered surfaces, evoking a sense of age and transformation. Pentimento plays a key role, as traces of the artistic process remain visible, enriching the narrative of time embedded in each piece.

Bees. Bees. Bees.
Drypoint intaglio printmaking, mark-making, painting
17 X 17 X inch
I started with mounting arches cold press paper on 12 x 12 vinyl records to give it a sturdy base.
I etched the bees into a plexiglass plate and printed them on Japanese paper.
Monotype print:
Use Akua Green Oxide ink, GOLDEN Heavy Body Acrylics - Green Gold, and with a coffee (yes coffee).
I layered the printed bees and assorted Japanese papers over the background.

Three Bees
Drypoint intaglio printmaking on Tetra
14 X 11 X inch
Created with a sense of freedom and experimentation, this Tetra print combines scratch marks, cross-hatching, and the sketched forms of three bees etched into the plate using a steel carving chisel. Originally a rectangle, the Tetra plate was reshaped with curved edges and torn sides, giving it an unorthodox and dynamic appearance. For the inking process, I used the tip of a cork to work the ink into the grooves, wiping away selectively to create a range of gray tones. The final touch was adding vibrant yellow ink, bringing the piece to life.

Yellow Black
Print, Paper, Acrylic paint
14 X 8.5 X inch
This piece merges cold-press paper onto the sturdiness of a hardboard wood painting panel.
Using a mix of print techniques, paper, acrylic paint, and mark-making I built up subtle textures and intricate details that invite the viewer to explore its depth.
The combination of materials brings a tactile quality to the piece, where the cold-press paper’s natural fibers interact beautifully with the smooth, resilient wood surface, while acrylic paint adds vibrancy and durability. The result is an artwork that feels both grounded and dynamic, balancing delicate texture with bold expression."

Twisted
Monotype Print
22 X 15 X inch
This artwork was meticulously crafted at Piramidal Grafica in Guanajuato, Mexic; employing monotype as a pivotal technique for mixed media printmaking, I utilized Akua's non-toxic water-based inks, employing ink mixing, layering, and intentional mark-making, exemplified by the distinctive black squiggle. Furthermore, I incorporated handmade paper through chine colle, enhancing the piece with intricate texture.
What I enjoyed about creating this piece was the illustrated detail of the twisted black lines looping in and out of the print.
