I am a contemporary artist based in Rochester, NY, USA. My work focuses on color and texture, drawing inspiration from human form and the natural world. I primarily use acrylics and oils and recently began exploring mixed media on canvas. My paintings always have a central focus, and on it, I build up an emotion and tell a story with colors. Each work also has an event or starting point, an emotional surge from where the painting is begotten.
This work marks the beginning of a new journey for me. Butterflies, as beautiful and delicate as they are, also possess an intoxicating and majestic quality that opens up a whole new world of dreams. After a long hiatus, I have started painting again, making this piece especially meaningful.
This work is inspired by Patua art, which dates back centuries. It is a form of art from West Bengal, India, and usually narrates a story from art scripts.
