Bio

Rossie is a UK based artist inspired by the ocean, faith, and our need to belong. To create her seascapes and abstracts she uses mainly acrylic paint and silicone oil. Rossie comes alive creating with the paint, using pouring, heat and layering to develop each piece.

Sometimes emotions are incredible, amazing, a phenomenal gift , and other times they are overwhelming, negative, and like obstacles we cannot see a way around. But through it all I can see beauty in the waves of what we go through. I even have thankfulness for how we grow and learn amidst life’s ups and downs. Sometimes it can feel freeing to just let the emotions that come our way cascade over us. They are part of life, what are they saying? What are they speaking to? Let them come, let them go, let love remain.

Can I be a little vulnerable with you for a moment? Taking the leap of becoming a full-time artist is so incredibly exciting and I have been blown away by the support and love I have received. But stepping out in this way also brings with it impostor syndrome, fear of failure, fear of disappointing those who believe in me, or of not being good enough. ‘You Are Loved’ is actually painted over another painting. I liked the original piece but it didn’t go with me or say what I wanted it to. I felt drawn to paint over this large piece, and as I mixed, poured, brushed, palette knifed, heated and layered, there was one thing that I kept hearing – “you are loved”. We can get so bogged down with expectations, real and imagined, from others and the ones we put on ourselves. But it was so therapeutic to create this beautiful piece and be reminded that just as I am, I am loved. My faith in God, my family, my friends, my belief in myself, all contribute to know that this is truth, unconditionally.

Many things in life cannot be fully relied upon. Unfortunately as people we are infallible and imperfect, even the most honest of us cannot hand on heart say we have always been 100% faithful in every moment and in every circumstance. But the ocean is faithful. And the One who made it is faithful. It is always there, giving life, beauty, freedom, hope. Tides moving in and out, always sustaining, always faithful, yet diverse and mysterious. Life is full of unknowns, but the beauty of the ocean and the sky will always be faithfully magnificent.

This painting took a long time to name, to try and articulate the feeling I get from this piece - the rushing, cascading waters, the depth, the beauty, the layers. I see peace yet adventure, hope, possibilities. Then it struck me. A lot of the most precious things in life come from overflow. An overflow of love, fun, circumstance, blessings. May you experience an overflow of good things.
