Bio
Natasha Moraga is a renowned mosaic artist based in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Born in La Mirada, California, to a Mexican mother and Chilean father, she moved to Mexico at the age of eight, eventually settling in Puerto Vallarta. Her artistic journey began after being inspired by Antoni Gaudí's trencadís technique during a visit to Barcelona in 2005. This led her to train with mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar in Philadelphia in 2009.
In 2011, Natasha embarked on her first major project, "Episodio 1," transforming a graffiti-covered wall near the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood into a vibrant mosaic masterpiece. Following this, she completed "Episodio 2" in Marina Vallarta, a 500-square-meter mural that stands as Mexico's second-largest mosaic mural.
Her most ambitious endeavor to date is the "Parque de los Azulejos" (Tile Park) project, initiated in 2017, it was taken over by new government administration in 2023 with only 5% left to finish, This community-driven masterpiece turned the once abandoned park into a vibrant public art space. Natasha has engaged over 400 volunteers in workshops, fostering community involvement in the arts.
Natasha's work has not only beautified public spaces but also strengthened community bonds, making her a pivotal figure in Puerto Vallarta's cultural landscape. Her dedication to transforming urban areas into open-air galleries continues to inspire both residents and visitors alike.
All her public projects have been created thanks to the community, there has been no government involvement or help.
