Sands of Time
stereolithographic print, glass, steel, and silicone
170 X 107 X 107 cm
stereolithographic print, glass, steel, and silicone, 170 x 107 x 107 cm
This intricate sculpture invites you into a realm where time is not just measured, but experienced. At its heart, a globe encases a network of seven intersecting hourglasses, representing the multiplicities of time that exist beyond linear understanding.
Inspired by rhizomatic theories, Sands of Time explores the concept of 'Kairos' —those rare, opportune moments that transcend the ticking clock, offering a space for deep reflection and transformation. This piece challenges us to reconsider how we perceive and inhabit time, transforming fleeting seconds into opportunities for collective contemplation.

Time Blind
acrylic paint on motorised day to night blind
160 X 90 X cm
Time Blind is a motorised surreal painting that visually interprets the concept of temporal distortion through a distorted assemblage of clocks, painted directly on a window blind.
This choice of canvas is symbolic, representing the 'blindness' to time that Albert Einstein's theory of relativity introduced to our understanding of the universe. Each clock within the composition is uniquely altered, with hands that bend and faces that melt, suggesting the fluidity and relative nature of time as described by relativity.
The clocks seem to defy the traditional laws that govern their mechanics, much like how Einstein's theory challenges our conventional perceptions of time and space.
The painting invites viewers to question the very fabric of reality, illustrating how time is not a constant but a variable that is malleable and subjective. Time Blind serves as a reflection on our limited perception and the mysterious, often elusive nature of time itself.

Tick Lock
acrylic and mixed media on canvas
120 X 90 X 2 cm
Inspired by "Tichloch," a term from John Koenig's 'Dictionary of
Obscure Sorrows', encapsulates the anxiety of never truly knowing how
much time one has left. It portrays time as an odd currency, one that is
spent or squandered, but always dispensed in tiny, unmeasurable
increments.

Time Crystal
stereolithographic print, glass, steel and resin
150 X 35 X 35 cm
Time Crystal is an interactive sculpture that invites participants to explore the intricate dance of time through tactile and visual engagement.
The audience become active participants, taking time into their own hands as they turn the globe and observe the sands of time dissipate and accelerate in divergent directions.
Each participant symbolically represents a grain of sand, contributing to the collective narrative of the moment, emphasising the shared human experience within the temporal landscape.

Fracture
stereolithographic print, resin, Glass, Sand, Steel
43 X 35 X 35 cm
Time across the space of time, and so in itself time is fractured with no conditional constraint.
Fracture was my first attempt to create 'Time Crystal' due to material constraints and uncontrolled conditions the resin fractured and cracked - although this was not what I had envisioned the result was a beautiful mistake that speaks a deeper truth of the concept itself.

Continuum 1
Charcoal and soft pastel on paper
50 X 35 X 2 cm
Continuum is a series of drawings focussing on the concept of an interconnected network of multiplicities, offering a vision of time as a vast, dynamic matrix of interactions that defy straightforward categorization. This artwork encourages viewers to perceive time as a rhizomatic structure, where every point is potentially connected to every other, without a clear beginning or end.

Convergence 1
charcoal and pen on paper
42 X 29.7 X 2 cm
Convergence is a series of charcoal and pen drawings exploring ’lines of flight’ from Deleuze and Guattari’s philosophies of the rhizome.
The area of this theory that these studies refer to is the convergent point of where multiplicities meet, highlighting the spontaneity of temporal junctions.

Vortex
charcoal on paper
55.88 X 81.28 X 2 cm
Vortex interprets the concept of rhizomatic time through dynamic and tumultuous imagery. The intention of this work was to capture the essence of time as a non-linear, multidirectional force, where events and moments intertwine and spiral unpredictably.

Entanglement 3
soft pastel on paper
50 X 35 X cm
Entanglement is a series of drawings that dive into the phenomenon of quantum entanglement through a deeply expressive and abstract lens.
The artwork features an intricate array of soft pastel lines and that intertwine and overlap, capturing the essence of quantum particles that remain interconnected regardless of the distance separating them.
This visual metaphor extends beyond physical science to suggest a broader philosophical message about the fundamental connectedness of all elements within the universe.
Through a chaotic yet harmonious composition, the drawing explores how disparate elements can coexist and influence each other. The use of stark contrasts and fluid transitions within the drawing emphasizes the paradoxical nature of entanglement—simultaneously separate yet united.
