Helen Alexander Bristow is a British artist working in a contemporary folk art tradition, creating richly detailed, emotionally resonant paintings that explore place, memory, and the quiet codes that shape daily life. Drawing on personal experience and a neurodivergent perspective, her work often focuses on suburban and semi-rural environments, where stillness, signage, and structure reveal subtle tensions between nature, community, and control.
Using flat perspective, narrative composition, and symbolic detail, Helen’s paintings invite close, slow looking — offering moments of reflection on belonging, privacy, and the rituals of the everyday. Her work has been exhibited nationally, including with Outside In, and reflects a growing voice in the space between outsider art and contemporary visual storytelling.
