About me My Profile Artwork
Bio
Gitta Pardoel, art and illustration: “Nature is the heartbeat of my work, a vibrant tapestry woven from the flora and landscapes that surround us. My artistic journey unfolds through the complex relationships that nature has to offer, where every leaf, flower and bird tells a story waiting to be revealed.

Gitta Pardoel, born in the Netherlands, studied a combination of architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture at the Delft University of Technology. After graduating, she worked as a designer in various fields, from airports to family homes, from parks to gardens. During her work as a designer, she studied art at the Utrecht Academy of Art and obtained her second master's degree in art, architecture and design at the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. In her work, she focused on the experience of spaces, which she could explore more freely in autonomous work that she developed alongside her design practice. Later she focused more on simultaneity in her work and nature itself and plants in particular became her main theme. Later in life, she started writing poetry and has followed several courses for this, so that word and image came to the same level.

Her work is included in a number of collections (Movares, el Ashmak, Meca as well as a multitude of private collections). She has had numerous exhibitions in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, Qatar, Morocco, Sweden, China, Tunisia, Argentina, etc. For almost a decade now, she has been teaching art and design at various art academies.

Gitta Pardoel: “My artistic journey unfolds through the complex relationships that nature has to offer, where every leaf, flower and bird tells a story waiting to be revealed.
In the interplay between abstraction and realism, a zooming in and out developed, where the essence of nature and its perception for me as an artist is distilled into layers of color and texture, of line and word. Each work embodies a moment of silent reflection, a dance of organic forms that resonate with the memories and emotions connected to the natural world and to my memories.

Working with different materials adds depth and complexity to my art and poems, creating a poetic character that reflects the layered experiences of life itself. My passion for storytelling extends beyond the canvas itself and manifests itself in children's books and illustrations that further explore the beauty of nature and its stories, but also in poetic video installations and poems. Where poems become images to make calls and sounds resonate and videos to experience image, word and sound in time.
I love flora and landscapes, birds and trees. I love the song of the blackbird in the evening, the smell of honeysuckle and the taste of wild strawberries.
With my eyes and my mind I follow the shapes, the lines, the contrasts. I follow the abstraction and the details. With my eyes and my mind I follow what I see with my pencil and brush, my camera and my ideas.“
