Bio
Fanyu Lin is an architect-artist based in New York City. She practiced calligraphy since childhood with her grandfather who is well-versed in Ts’ao Shu. Chirography or Ts’ao Shu style was considered as the perfect form where unity of perception and expression could be achieved in its abstract purity, where the beauty is not of plastic form but of the plastic stroke of movement simulated to life.
After studying architecture, she increasingly sees the beauty of architecture, as a language, an expression, and a marriage with other art forms in an interdisciplinary ambience, where creating art becomes the authentic expression of her true identity, and with one’s true identity comes fulfillment and purpose, passion and a life well-lived.
As a dedicated meditator, Fanyu knows that art has an innate power to heal, guide, and transform. Through meditation, she aligns with life's inherent rhythms, such as breathing, to allow for a fusion of mindful intent and heartful artistry, relaxing the act of art-making from doing into being.
She also became a certified therapeutic art life coach, and created the hOMe meditative arts, which was displayed at hundreds of locations across New York City and was viewed by the public more than 18 million times through a partnership with LinkNYC. The Therapeutic Art serves as a portal for individuals to explore their psyche, emotions, and aspirations. By integrating a variety of art mediums with therapeutic techniques, and placing emphasis on mindfulness, self-awareness, and empowerment, individuals are guided to discover concealed aspects of their essence, transcend emotional confines, and reach higher potentials.
