Dan Hallman
born in Pittsburgh, PA, United States, 1974 (I hold dual citizenship with Argentina)
B.F.A. in photography from Parsons School of Design / The New School, 1999
currently living and creating in The Hague, Netherlands

My life long attraction to arts and photography began in the years leading up to pursuing my BFA from Parsons School of Design in New York City, followed by an extensive freelance photography career with a specialty in editorial and celebrity portraits. To feed my creative mind I have always been creating abstract, more conceptual work for myself. Some have categorised these large scale photos as Abstract Expressionism in Photography or Kinetic at times.

I enjoy creating photos, paintings and drawings where you have to look closer to see what it is, or done in a way where the subject matter is not important and it is left entirely up to the viewer to visually feel the piece.

Separate from this abstract work, I am creating an ongoing series on canvas titled “Textural.” In these pieces, I use words and phrases in a graphic manner which enable viewers to look inside themselves or where I curate a cheeky laugh. Depending on the individual piece, these works are done on canvas using oil, acrylic, ink, plastic and spray paint.

Aside from many publications of my portraits from Vanity Fair to Glamour, my artistic works have been exhibited at Centro Cultural Borges, Buenos Aires in 2019 and at the Museum Of The City Of New York in 2004.

Since March 2020, I am currently living in The Hague with my husband, the ambassador of Argentina to the Netherlands, and our dog.
