Details: The Ressurection of Feminine is a 36x36 Oil on canvas painting I made in 2023. Using my best friend as my subject, I aimed to use traditional Christian motifs for my contemporary commentary. This piece is about the sacrifices women throughout history have made. The martyrdom that all women must inherently participate in, similar to the journey Christ endured. The reason why I chose to focus on the resurrection rather than the crucifixion is because perpetuating images of women in pain distress or as victims of violence is something the real world does enough of. I wanted to capture the triumph of survival in the most glamorous and esteemed way while still allowing her wounds and blood to add to the beauty.
